Untill very recently magazines have functioned in a unidirectional kind of way, it was and still is a business of magazines publishers running as and marketing campaigns for the advertisers found within them. Who really remembers the last magazine article they read, especially the 13 to 31 crowd, filled with illiterate gazers digging hip hop, mens mags and general advertorial type "reads". But at the same time, no one likes ot be talked AT, which is why fewer people seek traditional and not to mention informational sources of information and turn towards entertaining sources of info. And i know we all know those trusty E.T. watchers and TMZ gawkers who can relate to everything thye saw on tv but still lack any real substance. As a whole we are less informed about even simple opinions, concepts and ways of life. We are less informed about the miltitude of perspectives that exist in this world.
fly.paper is a book of conversation, the internet is a flowing multi-directional information source and sink. It engenders conversation, identity, perspective and the convergence of the discourse of place. Our online lives are starting to resemble our offline lives and fly.paper straddles the fence between both new human existences. This is a tangible item from our ethereal online lives which in every other case stays behind the computer screen is made real by fly.paper. It's an added layer of social media and enriching lives through providing a community, which by definition implies total integration.
